Test Post

I am getting ready to hit the road and would like to learn how to maintain the blog from iPhone. This is a test post. I am including a favorite picture from Oak Hill Trail, about 2 miles from home. Since I am no longer 12 years old it takes a long time to figure this stuff out.

If this works here is a favorite picture:

Taxiway Closed

Mind the barriers at Medina Muni (1G5)!  This sinkhole is a doozy!

A Great Training Flight!

Thanks to my friend and partner in N6172D, Dr. Myron ("Ron") Bodman for safety piloting an exciting training flight last Wednesday, May 29.  We departed Medina Muni (1G5) with southwest winds around 15 knots, gusting to around 20. I had anticipated this the previous evening, and flight planned a Cleveland Round Robin, taking advantage of the southwest flow.

Flying in moderate turbulence throughout the flight in our Cessna Skyhawk was certainly exciting.  We conducted ILS approaches at Cuyahoga County (KCF), Burke Lakefront (KBLK) and Cleveland Hopkins (KCLE) in rapid successions.  Ron helped with all the setups.  Thanks, Ron!

We had planned to execute the published hold at NVRTL (the final approach fix for the VOR 27 approach into Medina), but by that time we were getting shook up pretty well, so we called it a day.  I must have been eager to get back, because the landing was safe but firm.  Not the feather touch I had hoped for.
